Why the Airfly Pro is My New Travel Buddy

February 23, 2021 Hanny 3 min read 2 Comments

One thing that annoys me about airlines is that most of them will charge you for wired headphones. As someone who carries their AirPods around, I’m often the type that forgets to bring wired headphones to the plane.

While everyone watches the in-flight movies, I’m stuck draining the battery of my cell phone by using it during the entirety of the flight.

However, as our technology advances, there are companies coming up with solutions to these kinds of problems. One such company is Twelve South and their product AirFly Pro.

Disclaimer: I was gifted this item so that I may review it, but all opinions are my own.

Why the Airfly Pro is My New Travel Buddy

The AirFly Pro is a tiny wireless transmitter that allows you to connect two wireless headphones to any headphone jack. All you have to do is pair the AirFly Pro with your wireless headphones and then plug in the AirFly Pro to any headphone jack.

Although I have yet to test them out on an airplane, I have already tested them out at the gym, at home, in the car and so far I am impressed by the results.

It’s exciting to be able to watch the treadmill TVs at the gym using my AirPods. I don’t need to remember to carry wired headphones to the gym, which I have forgotten several times before.

Pairing

Pairing the AirFly Pro with the AirPods is easy, but I do recommend reading the owner’s guide to understand what the flashes of amber and white means.

If you decide to do it without the owner’s guide, you will have a bit of a difficult time trying to figure out if you paired it correctly (unless you try testing it out by plugging it in). However, it should only take you a few seconds to pair the two, so make sure to read the guide.

Battery

Twelve South has other AirFly transmitters with 20+ hours of battery life and though AirFly Probonly has 16+ hours of battery life, it has more features than the other transmitters. Below you can compare the battery life of all the other AirFly transmitters as well as some of their features.

AirFly Pro

If you’re wondering what the difference is between the AirFly Duo and AirFly Pro, the AirFly Pro has all the features of the Duo with the addition of the RX mode which turns any AUX-IN port into a wireless audio receiver. It also has keyring storage, which is great! For more details, you can check out Twelve South

My Thoughts

I am a huge fan of the AirFly Pro! It’s a neat transmitter that allows me to use my AirPods wherever I go. At the gym? I can use my AirPods. In a plane? I can use my AirPods. Gaming? I can use my AirPods. In the car? I can play music from my phone to my radio without an Auxiliary cable.

I also like that the AirFly Pro has a key ring on the cap so that I can attach it with all of my keys. Usually, I do a pros and cons list for most products that I review, but in this case, I did not find anything wrong with the AirFly Pro.

I love that this eliminates the need for an aux cable. I would definitely put this on my key ring so I can enjoy my music anywhere. I would use this when I have to ride in my husbands old stinky truck
