Florida is one of those places that many people love to visit. Whether it’s because of the beaches, the sunny weather, or Disney, the Sunshine State gets plenty of visitors yearly.
Having lived in Florida my whole life, I have noticed that people either go to Disney or wonder what to do in Florida. I’ve had friends not know what to do in the Sunshine State, so as a Floridian, I thought it would be a good idea to list 110 unique things to do in Florida.
You will find things to do in the list below separated by city. So if you’re going to a certain city, scroll to the table of contents to find the city you’ll be going to.
Miami
Miami is my hometown, so there’s a lot about Miami that most tourists will not know about. Even after living in Miami throughout my childhood, I still learn about new activities and places to visit.
1. Wynwood
Amazing street art, wonderful galleries to explore, and also some great eateries.
2. Art Deco Historic District
Offers some retro buildings and has some fun tours. Also has the Art Deco Weekend, a three-day event full of music, art, food, and much more.
3. Food Tour in Little Havana
Learn more about the Cuban culture and taste delicious Cuban Cuisine as well as tasty drinks.
4. Vizcaya Museum & Gardens
Majestic and beautiful museum with amazing gardens.
5. Eat cinnamon rolls at the Knaus Berry Farm
Popular with the locals for their cinnamon rolls. They also have shakes and other goodies!
6. Fruit & Spice Park
The beautiful 37-acre botanical park contains over 500 fruits, vegetables, spices and herbs. Although you are not allowed to pick fruit from the tree, visitors are welcome to sample fallen fruit.
7. Bayside Marketplace
An open-air shopping center in Downtown Miami. Has a tropical look and it’s wrapped around by the banks of Biscayne Bay.
8. Miccosukee Resort & Gaming
Play in the casino or eat brunch, there’s plenty to do within the resort.
9. The Coral Castle
Located in Homestead and has a unique history.
10. Take a trip to the Everglades
If you’re more on the adventurous side and love the outdoors, then you’ll definitely like the Everglades. They have plenty of tours, airboat tours, and a lot of nature!
11. Miami Beach
Take a trip to the beach, and get some rays and drinks in.
12. Have lunch in Brickell
A very posh neighborhood in Miami, Brickell has plenty of great restaurants.
13. Design District
Head on over to the Design District to admire the architecture and wonderful stores.
14. The Biltmore Hotel
Said to be haunted, The Biltmore Hotel is a very beautiful hotel to visit, whether it is to stay or have brunch. They do offer free tours that occur every Sunday at 1:30 and 2:30 PM.
15. The Venetian Pool
Located in Coral Gables, this is a great public pool to visit.
16. The Burger Museum
Holds 3,000 collectibles from Burger and Comfort Food Restaurants from all over the United States. (UPDATE: This Museum is no longer there, but you could always visit the casino).
17. See celebrity mansions
Take an hour-long boat tour and cruise past celebrity homes on Fisher Island, Star Island, and Palm Island.
18. Roam around the Ancient Spanish Monastery
A medieval monastery was transported from Spain and rebuilt in Miami.
19. Holocaust Memorial
Miami Beach has a Holocaust Memorial, which was conceived by a group of Holocaust survivors.
20. Visit The Bass
a historic art deco space featuring diverse art and sculpture gardens. They even have their own “magic mountain”, which is referred to as Miami Mountain.
21. Go to the Unicorn Factory
If you love art and unicorns, this is the place to visit.
22. Jungle Island
Like the zoo, except there are more exotic animals.
23. Wander around The Kampong
A botanical garden located in Coconut Grove, The Kampong contains a fascinating array of tropical fruit and flowering trees.
24. Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden
This beautiful botanical garden is located in Coral Gables and has 83 acres of rare tropical plants.
Fort Lauderdale
25. Cinemark Paradise 24
Watch a movie at this beautiful Egyptian Temple movie theater.
26. Swap Shop Flea Market
Go to a drive-in movie at the Flea Market or go shopping.
27. Bonnet House Museum & Gardens
Filled with a collection of art and the personal treasures of the Birch/Bartlett families.
28. Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino
Even if you don’t need a room, this hotel has it all: a big nice pool, restaurants, a spa, memorabilia, and a casino.
29. Butterfly World
The largest butterfly park in the world, the facility houses around 20,000 live butterflies.
30. Hugh Taylor Birch State Park
Said to be something out of Narnia, this State Park offers visitors a freshwater lagoon, diverse wildlife, hiking, fishing, and much more.
31. Museum of Discovery & Science
One of the largest museums in Florida of its kind, this museum offers interactive exhibits and an IMAX theater.
Orlando/Kissimmee
32. Kennedy Space Center
Check out all things NASA, shuttle launches, IMAX films, and astronaut memorabilia.
33. Try Axe Throwing
Epic Axe Throwing offers anyone visiting the opportunity to throw axes.
34. Visit Titanic: The Artifact Museum
This beautiful museum showcases all things Titanic.
35. Stroll around the Bok Tower Gardens
Known for its “singing” tower, this peaceful garden has a tower whose carillon bells play several times a day.
36. Visit the Tallest Tree in Florida
Big Tree Park is home to the tallest tree in Florida.

A museum full of life-size wax replicas of celebrities.
38. Make Your Own Pancakes at The Old Spanish Sugar Mill
Located inside De Leon Springs State Park, The Old Spanish Sugar Mill allows guests to make their own pancakes.

The Wheel at ICON Park allows you to see Orlando from about 400 feet up in the air.

If you’re a nature lover but you don’t want to walk trails, then the Apopka Wildlife Drive is a good place to visit. See wildlife while you drive in your car.
46. Stroll around Disney Springs
If you’re on a budget but want to experience the magic of Disney, visit Disney Springs.
47. Go on the Central Florida Ale Trail and Try Different Beers
Simply get a map from one of the participating breweries and begin your journey. Once you complete the map with stamps, you will get a special growler to celebrate.
48. Take a Tour of Florida’s Natural
Learn about their history and sample orange juice.
49. Go on a Pub Crawl in Downtown Orlando
Every month, the pub crawl has a different theme. So dress up and visit all the bars included in the crawl.
50. Lakeridge Winery & Vineyards
Sample some delicious wine and take the tour.
51. Go Canoeing or Kayaking at Lake Louisa State Park
Located in Clermont, Lake Louisa Park is a 4,372-acre Florida State Park offering visitors plenty to do.

One of Florida’s first attractions, you will be taken all the way to the top to get a view of Clermont.

Take photos of their replica Mount Rushmore and check out their museum with a miniature replica of the White House.

From picking fresh Florida Citrus to riding on a monster truck, this spot has plenty to do.
55. Visit Cassadaga and Take a Tour
A small community known for having many psychics and mediums and has been named the “Psychic Capital of the World.”
56. Ripley’s Believe It or Not!
See some odd things such as rare animal skeletons at this museum.

Watch a 30’s gangland Chicago-themed show and enjoy an Italian-American buffet.
Tampa
58. Go to Junk Art of Hong Kong Willie
A property decorated with buoys, ropes, and many other random things.
59. Cruise along the Tampa Riverwalk
Take the Pirate Water Taxi and explore everything Tampa Bay has to offer.
60. Visit Ybor City Historic District
Located northwest of Downtown Tampa, this area has an interesting history as well as some fun things to do.
61. Dinosaur World
Between Tampa and Lakeland, Dinosaur World is an open-air museum with more than 150 dinosaur models.
62. Henry B. Plant Museum
Beautiful museum with original furnishings and artifacts.
63. Take a Tour of the Yuengling Brewery
A completely free tour that shows you how Yuengling is made.
64. Gasparilla Pirate Festival
I’ve heard so many good things about this festival. This year, it takes place on January 25th and usually occurs around January every year. This is a large parade and the main event of the festival is the Parade of Pirates.
Saint Augustine
65. Learn More about Castillo de San Marcos
The historic fort offers visitors a self-guided tour and beautiful views.
66. Visit the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum
Take a tour of this beautiful lighthouse and museum. Climb 219 steps to the top to enjoy a breathtaking view.
67. Go to the Lightner Museum
Home to a collection of fine 19th-century art.

The church was constructed in 1889 by Henry Morrison Flagler. Not only is the outside of the church gorgeous, but the inside is even better.

One of the best spots to scuba dive and snorkel.

If you’ve read any of his books or stories, then this is a good spot to learn more about him.
79. Eat Some Delicious Key Lime Pie in Mallory Square
Key West is known for its Key Lime Pie, and it’s even better when you eat it in Mallory Square.
80. Go to the Pier to Watch the Sunset
Go to the Sunset Pier to see the best sunset.
St. Petersburg
81. Eat a Delicious Meal at the Toasted Monkey
One of my favorite beach bars, the Toasted Monkey has some amazing food, beautiful views, and lots of entertainment.
82. Have Some Drinks at Postcard Inn on the Beach (PCI Beach Bar)
One of the oldest bars on the beach, the PCI Beach Bar is a great spot for drinks, plus their decor is cool to look at.
83. Take a Ride to the Beach with Free Beach Ride
Get free local rides with Free Beach Ride. The drivers work for tips only.
84. Go to the Salvador Dali Museum
An art museum that houses the largest collection of Dalí’s works outside Europe.
85. Admire Glass Art at the Chihuly Collection
Unique sculptures by glass artist Dale Chihuly.
Safety Harbor/Clearwater
86. Eat a Sandwich at the Sandwich on Main
They have some amazing sandwiches, and I absolutely love the drinks they have.
87. Admire the Art in Whimzeyland
The most colorful house in Safety Harbor, this place also has a bunch of bowling balls and other decorations around the house.
88. Watch the Sunset from Pier 60 in Clearwater Beach
The sunsets here are breathtaking and absolutely gorgeous.
89. Crooked Thumb Brewery
Drink some craft beer or join in on Trivia Night.
90. Philippe Park
Go check out the National Historic Landmark, the Tocobaga Indian Mound at this beautiful park.
Tallahassee/Pensacola
91. Visit Wolves at the Secrest Wolf Preserve
You get to be near them rather than seeing them behind a fence.
92. Florida Caverns State Park
We don’t have many caves in Florida, but this State Park has caves.
93. Fort Barrancas
A United States Military Fort and also a National Historic Landmark.
One of the largest aviation museums in the world.
DeLand

Said to be one of the largest homes in the state built before the 20th century.

103. Visit the Ponce De Leon Inlet Lighthouse

Florida is such a wonderful state to visit, especially with the number of activities and places to see. Hopefully, this list of unique things to do in Florida will help you plan your next visit.
This is a fantastic list. Wow, there’s so much stuff to do in Florida! I’ve been there once but I didn’t know about most of these things. If I ever go again I’m referring to this list for different things to do 🙂

Hi Laura! A few I found unique in Boca are the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center and The Schmidt Boca Raton History Museum (The building itself is pretty neat). I haven’t explored the area a whole lot though, so I am sure there is a lot more. Some that I do recommend checking out in the Delray Beach area is Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens and The Girls Strawberry U-Pick. I’ll be updating the list soon.
