One of the benefits of working in a company with a work-life balance is that I didn’t have to go to work for four days straight. I had four days to explore and be a total tourist in the current city that I live in!
Okay, so I didn’t do much on Thanksgiving, except cook, but the other three days I did spend time exploring. So on Friday morning, I took a trip to Artegon.
Having heard so any great things about the place, I decided it was time to see what the big deal was. As soon as inopened the doors of Artegon, my mouth dropped out of pure amazement. I couldn’t believe what I was looking at – colorful chairs stuck to the walls, an obstacle course in the middle of the marketplace and rows of unique stores.
As I made my way around Artegon, I kept discovering new things – coloring area for kids, a huge wall to write on, seats with petals and Christmas trees.
That wasn’t the best part though, the best part were all the stores. Each artisanal store had a theme, whether it was a Peruvian shop or a Vintage shop, the stores seemed so authentic. It was overwhelming, I felt as though my heart was going to explode from pure joy!
As a traveler, I often feel trapped being in one city for so long, but being in Artegon felt as though I was traveling around the world without having to leave the country. Each one of the stores took me to a different country and time. One store took me to Morroco, while another took me back to the 70s. So many of the stores felt so authentic that I didn’t feel like I was in Florida anymore! As I walked out of Artegon, there was a row of food trucks outside. Each food truck offered cuisine from different parts of the world, especially my favorite, Peruvian food! I didn’t get to try any of the food trucks, but when I do, you’ll probably see a post about it.
Aside from Artegon, I did some major shopping for Black Friday and decided to buy some shoes! Although I love the great sales black Friday brings, I find it funny we take the time to give thanks for what we already have on thanksgiving and once that’s over… Well we attack each other for good deals. I guess that’s why I do my shopping online, I wouldn’t want to get trampled.
On my fourth day, the hubby and I decided to go to the flea market again and there I found my latest camera – a Minolta! I know I could have found it online, but I don’t think I could have found it for the price I paid. Overall, I had a good four day vacation with lots of food, love, shopping and exploring!
If you had the chance to celebrate Thanksgiving, how did you spend it?
