Topgolf, a MUST visit attraction

For my birthday, I decided to go to Topgolf in Lake Mary, FL. I must admit I’m not really a golf person, but this unique attraction has had me intrigued for a while now.

Topgolf has been expanding throughout Florida and conveniently added a Topgolf in Lake Mary, FL, which is close to where I live. Having just opened their Lake Mary location in January 2021, I got the chance to tryout their new location and just in time for my birthday!

Reservation

A few days before my birthday, I made it a point to reserve a bay. You can do this online and all you have to do is pay the reservation fee. This fee is anywhere from $5-$25, but I ended up paying $5 for the reservation.

The reservation doesn’t guarantee a spot, but it does bump you up on the waiting list if there is one. Luckily, I didn’t have to wait. My bay was ready for me when I got there. It’s not necessary to reserve a bay as they do welcome walk-ins, but it’s always a good idea to reserve, especially with how popular Topgolf has become.

Membership

Anyone who goes to Topgolf has to pay a $5 one-time Lifetime membership fee. They do have other memberships, but this one is ultimately better than the others they offered.

Parking

I don’t know about other locations, but the Lake Mary location in Florida has plenty of parking and it’s also free. I found it easy to find a parking spot, then again it was the week and this is a rather new location.

Arrival

Upon arrival, you need to head over to the front desk. There they will give you all the information you need, including your bay number.

Once you arrive at the bay, you are then greeted by one of the employees. I was so happy with the server attending to our bay, not only was he awesome, but he also made my birthday special. He was also very informative and showed us first-timers how to use the screen to play.

The Bay

During my time at Topgolf, I was not worried about being close to someone else. Each bay provides enough space to social distance. You also have your own screens, table, and clubs to choose from. Although you do need to enter the facility with masks on, once you are in your reserved bay, you are able to take off your mask.

Aside from the bay, they also have some other areas – a patio and some bars on some of the different floors. It’s a great option for anyone who doesn’t want to play but would still like to spend their time hanging out at Topgolf.

Food

I wasn’t too sure if the food was going to be great, but I absolutely loved it. We got the cheesy macaron bites along with some burgers. My husband got the smokehouse burger, while I ended up getting the classic burger. Topgolf has a good menu perfect for their venue as well as some delicious drinks such as Orange Dream and Trop- Fruit Mai Tai.

Celebration

Going to Topgolf for my birthday was a great choice! Not only because of the food, the drinks and games, but also because Topgolf makes every birthday special. The awesome server that we had attending the bay, had his fellow co-workers carry signs forming my name. They all held these signs while singing happy birthday, which was just great. On top of that, I also received a birthday card with all of their wishes for me. They usually also bring out dessert, but I opted out from having it.

Since it’s such an amazing venue full of space and fun, they also allow customers to book an event at their venue. You can have company events, birthday parties, tournaments, team-building events, and much more.

Games

One of the things that drew me to Topgolf was their Angry Birds game. When I heard they would have this available, I just had to try it. Once I was settled in the bay, we looked through the different types of games they had and ultimately decided that the best one for us was Angry Birds. It was one of my favorites and definitely love this addition.

Topgolf was a great experience and I finally understand why so many people like it there. I didn’t feel judged for not knowing how to hold the club properly or for not being able to hit the ball into the holes, I was able to social distance without having a miserable birthday and the bay attendees were all great. It was definitely a memorable birthday.

There’s plenty of ways to celebrate a birthday in Central Florida, but this has been one of my favorite ones so far, and recommend it to anyone wanting to celebrate. This is a very family-friendly venue with great games, food, and a lot of fun.
