Travel Tips

If you’ve read my blogger tips Q&A, then you know that most of the questions come from the AMA I did a few weeks ago. These are the questions that the public asked me in regards to travel, blog tips and blogging in general. However, I did answer some travel questions, that I am sure will answer some of your travel related questions and give you the travel tips you need.

Q. What are common expenses mistakes travelers do when going on vacation?

A. Some common mistakes are going during high season and paying a higher fare when there are plenty of discounts out there. Another expense is spending money on tourist traps instead of enjoying the local attractions.

Q. Can you share some tips to save money when booking your lodging?

A. You will absolutely save money during low travel season. If that’s not something doable, then checking websites like groupon works. I sometimes like to save money by booking a whole package -plane ticket and lodging. Also, if you go to the same brand hotel like Hilton, each one will have a members rewards card that can help you get cheaper rates as well.

If you don’t mind staying at a hostel, that will be your best bet to saving even more money.

Q. To someone that has not traveled to Europe, which country would you recommend to go first and why?

A. It depends what you like to do. Do you like to go shopping and fashion? I’d recommend going to Milan, Italy. Do you like architecture? A lot of Europe has amazing buildings, but Budapest, Hungary has some amazing bridges and beautiful buildings. Do you want to go to a city with a bit of humor and waffles? Go to Belgium. It really depends on what you like. If you want the more touristic experience, I would recommend France.

Q. What are some of the interesting foodie tips you have discovered while travelling?

A. Not all street foods are safe to eat. I am huge on eating street food, but this must be done with caution. This is a tip I received from a fellow traveler who got sick after eating street food in India.

A few other tips in regards to street food – always pay attention to the cleanliness of the utensils being used to serve the food. Are they using a dirty knife? Also, follow the locals. What are they eating and where?
