From Bakeries to Buffets: Orlando’s $10 or Less Too Good To Go Bags

Orlando’s theme parks offer unforgettable memories and a costly unforgettable bill. Picture this: $1,000+ for tickets, hotels, flights, and those infamous $20 burgers.

While there are many ways to lower the cost of your trip, there is also a solution to slash your food budget in half by using one of my favorite apps – Too Good To Go.

Too Good To Go allows you to save food from restaurants, cafes and grocery stores that would otherwise end up in the trash. Whatever restaurants can’t sell at the end of the day will go on the Too Good To Go app and you place a reservation to pick it up. Many of the bags are less than $10.

This is such a great way to prevent food waste and it also helps people spend less on food! However, you will not know what’s inside the bag and if you have a gluten intolerance this may not be an option for you. The items are also random, depending on the place you select, you can get anything from Swedish Meatballs at IKEA to delicious pastries at an Argentinian Bakery.

For those looking to save money while exploring Orlando’s magical attractions, I’ve compiled a list of places below of the Too Good To Go spots I’ve been to so far.

Argentinian Bakery & Cafe

Too Good to Go

This is one of my favorite bakeries to go to. I usually go for the empanadas, so when I saw that they were on the Too Good To Go app, I had to check it out.

On the app, the bakery mentions that the baked goods surprise bag will contain Argentinian pastries, baked goods, or bread. I already knew what to expect since I had been to this bakery a couple of times. Aside from having gone before and loving the place, I also looked at the reviews, which highlighted: delicious food, friendly staff, and great amount of food.

Based on that, I reserved a Too Good To Go bag and arrived at the scheduled time. The staff was friendly and they packed it right in front of me. They chose a few things and off I went with my goods.

Cost:

For $5.99+ tax, I got 9 pastries and 1 huge pastry. When looking at their menu, they sell 1/2 dozen of pastries for $8 and a dozen pastries for $15. If you ask me, I got a pretty good deal! Of course, I would have loved to get empanadas, but I’m happy I got to try something different from this bakery.

Dochi

At the time I got this bag, Dochi still had their other location at the East End Market. I tried several times to get donuts from their Colonial Dr. location, but they kept cancelling. So I ended up with the location that was on Corrine Dr.

This one didn’t have much information, but based on the price listed on the listing, it seemed I’d only get 6 donuts. I didn’t mind though because I love love love Mochi Donuts! This is also a place I would go to often, so it was nice to get donuts for less the price of what I usually pay.

Cost:

For $5.99+tax, I got 6 mochi donuts. The regular cost for these donuts is $18 for half a dozen, so this was a good purchase.

Great Harvest Orlando Bakery & Cafe

This was my second Too Good To Go order and one of my favorites! First of all, I had never been to Great Harvest Orlando Bakery & Cafe. It had been the first time I heard of it and thanks to the app, I was able to know of its existence and get to try what they offer.

According to their listing, the surprise bag would include items such as bread, pastries, cakes, bagels and/or savory goods. The rating for this place was pretty good so I said why not? And reserved a Too Good To Go bag.

Not only was this a cute spot to visit, but I ended up getting a whole loaf of bread, which I used as part of Christmas dinner and a few delicious pastries!

Cost:

For $6.99, I got a whole loaf of bread and a couple of pastries. The loaf of bread itself makes this bag worth it since a whole loaf at this place is about $10-$12.

Grounding Roots

This is yet another spot I discovered thanks to Too Good To Go. This time instead of food, I picked up drinks! Healthy drinks.

Grounding Roots offers organic cold-pressed juices, smoothies and more. The listing is for two of the cold-pressed drinks, which is a great deal considering that each bottle sells for $12!

Cost:

For $7.99, you get two cold-pressed 12 oz drinks. I ended up buying two. So for $15.98, I got four of these drinks, which would have come out to $48! Keep in mind, you’re not able to choose what drinks you get. If there is a specific one you want, that is when you would want to buy directly from the store.

Shipley Do-Nuts

I am not a huge donut person, but with the amount of donut places on the app, I thought I’d give one a try. Instead of going with Dunkin or Krispy Kreme, I chose Shipley Do-Nuts. I had seen some people post about this place (one even received a dozen donuts). I on the other hand received six donuts with two kolaches.

Cost:

For $6.99, I got 6 donuts and two sausage and cheese Kolaches. The Kolaches are usually $3.99, while the half dozen donuts are $12.49. I would have spent $20.47. So this was a great deal!

While most of the items I’ve tried have been pastries and drinks, the app does have other options – pizza, Jamaican cuisine, sandwiches, salad bowls and more! So if you’re planning a trip to Orlando, I’d give this app a try. You never know what you’ll try next.
