Earlier this month, I got the chance to take my SideTrak Portable Monitor on a train. Although, I’ve taken my laptop on a train before, I have never used a portable monitor on the road.
So when it came time to take my SideTrak Portable Monitor on the train, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. Trains can often shake things up and I wasn’t too sure how well the SideTrak Portable Monitor would hold up.
The SideTrak Swivel Portable Monitor
As a remote worker, I need two screens to do my job. After looking through various monitor options, The SideTrak Swivel Portable Monitor was the best option due to the features it has. It is also a 12.5” Full HD portable monitor, which is the perfect size for someone that travels often.
Not only can this monitor swivel, but it also has a few other features that facilitates my work life.
Features
The most noticeable feature is the swivel. This portable monitor swivels 360°, while the screen rotates 270°. Aside from that, it also has a strong magnetic connection, which allows me to attach it to my laptop. This can be attached on either side of the laptop and can also be used as a freestanding portable monitor, thanks to the collapsible mounting frame, which can be used as a stand.
Another amazing feature is the ability to mirror your screen or extend it. The mirror option is great for presentations and the autorotation allows you to easily share it with others. Extending your screen allows you to multitask, which is the feature I mostly use for my job.

The Experience on the Train
Once I sat down in the train, I was able to set it up in less than a minute. It’s such an easy setup, especially when you already have the magnetic plate on the laptop. I also used the USB-C to USB-C cord to connect it to my laptop.
My concern with this trip and the portable monitor was that the monitor wasn’t going to hold up on a train. However, the magnetic connection is so strong that I had no issues, especially when the train was shaking vigorously.
Since the portable monitor can swivel, I was able to move it around to meet my needs. It’s also very easy to turn off and put away along with my laptop.
Having the second monitor did not bother the person sitting next to me, especially since I was able to move it inward.
The train ride was great and I was able to work comfortably without having to worry about my portable monitor falling out.
The best part is that I can use it anywhere! If I don’t want to use the magnetic attachment, no problem, I can simply use the mounting frame as a stand.
The 12.5” Full HD SideTrak Swivel portable monitor is a great addition for anyone who works remotely and has definitely helped me stay productive.
