Helicopter Tour with Old City Helicopters

August 7, 2017 Hanny 3 min read No Comments

The hubby and I recently went to Savannah, to celebrate our one year anniversary. Since we have never been on a helicopter before, we thought it would be a great opportunity to go on a helicopter tour. Savannah being a popular touristic place, offers many different tours. There are also different companies that offer helicopter tours, but what drew us to Old City Helicopters was the different tours they offer and the affordable prices.

Our Tour

When we first arrived at the location, we were greeted by one of the pilots. He checked us in and after we were done, we made our way to the helicopter.

Out of all the tours they offer, we decided to go with the Discovery Tour, which is a 10 minute tour of the rail yards, Talmadge Bridge, the port and downtown Savannah. At first we thought this tour would be a bit short for us, but being that it was our first time, we thought we would give it a try.

As I sat in the helicopter, the pilot informed us of a few things – safety procedures and such before we took off. We put on our headsets and off we went!

Packages

Initially the hubby and I thought 10 minutes would be too short, but after flying, the tour was just perfect. Long or short, the view from the sky was gorgeous and the cost is very affordable. Some of the packages Old City Helicopter offers are:

4. Tybee Island and Downtown TourExtend the Fort Pulaski and Downtown Tour and head all the way out to Tybee Island. You will fly to the southern end of Tybee Island and fly low level all the way along the beach to the Tybee Lighthouse.

Final Thoughts

Riding a helicopter was on my bucket list and now that I have finally been able to ride one, I’ve been able to cross it off my list. This is definitely a memorable experience and if ever in Savannah, give it a try because the view is just amazing! I had such a wonderful time and the pilot at the Old City Helicopters was great. I enjoyed the wonderful view and the overall experience.
