Five Ways to Use a Lensball

January 6, 2019 Hanny 3 min read 1 Comment

A few weeks ago, I got my hands on the Lensball Pro and Lensball Pocket. Rather than getting my Lensball from cheap stores (The ones that sell cheap quality crystal balls), I got mine from the original makers of the Lensball

The Lensball is a crystal ball that helps professional and amateur photographers create unique shots. Although there were already glass balls around, there wasn’t one with the quality of a professional lens, until the company Lensball started producing them. Lensball uses an expensive crystal glass rather than an imperfect, cheap glass to ensure it meets the quality a professional photographer needs.

As a photographer, the quality of the ball is really important to me, which is why I chose to get them from the Lensball company.

There are two types of Lensballs that are sold via the Lensball company. There’s the Lensball Pro and Lensball Pocket. The Pro is 80mm and 650gr, while the Pocket is 60mm and 250gr. These two are quite different in size, but are both equally great for photos.

The Lensball Pocket is great to take on travels and is less heavier than the Pro, which is wonderful for anyone who travels a lot. The Lensball Pro is  wonderful for its size, but it is heavier.

While testing both Lensballs, I noticed that the crystal is of great quality. Not only did it show by holding it, but you can also see it in the images as well. During my time playing around with them, I noticed there are also five ways you can use the Lensball.

Five Ways to use a Lensball

Whether it is the Lensball Pro or Lensball Pocket, you can use either in the five ways below.

1. Hold it up

When you begin to take photos with the Lensball, holding it up in front of the object of your choice is a preferred method. Not only does this look great in photos, but you also get to control what is seen through the Crystal ball.

2. Place it in water

The above photo shows an image of a Lensball in water. This Lensball Image was taken by Instagram user @lexventures_

I have seen some amazing photos of Lensballs in the water. This is such a great idea because the reflection of the water shows the Lensball and what you’ve captured with the Lensball.  I have yet to try this, but I cant wait to see how my photos come out, once I do this.

3. Turn it upside down

Have you ever wondered how you can make your photos right side up inside the Lensball? Well if you turn the image upside down or take the photo upside down, you will get the image in the Lensball right side up!

4. Use the Lensball stand

There’s a nice Lensball stand that can be used for either Lensball. All you need to do is put the stand on your tripod and set the Lensball on top of the stand.

5. Throw it up in the air

The above photo shows someone throwing the Lensball up in the air and capturing the moment. This wonderful photo is by Instagram user @georgesarmando.

I have seen some people do this and the results are amazing! However, as someone who has just started out with the Lensball, it’s a bit intimidating to throw it in the air. At least, I won’t be doing this just yet.

The Lensball is a great product for anyone looking to get creative with their photos. It also makes a wonderful gift for photographers.

If you would like to see more of my images with the Lensball, checkout my Instagram or you can also check them out on my Facebook.

For those looking to purchase the Lensball, use code THEGLOBALWANDERESS for 15% off your entire order. This code is only valid until February 11th and on the Lensball website.

I did receive complimentary Lensballs, but as always all opinions are my own.
