Artisan Alley DeLand: A Hidden Gem

March 13, 2024 4 min read

Nestled in the Historic Downtown DeLand, just off Georgia Ave., Artisan Alley is a haven for anyone who loves unique and eclectic shops and bars. While there are plenty of things to do in Downtown Deland, Artisan Alley is a spot you should visit, especially if you’re searching for hidden gems in this beautiful city.

From restaurants to shops with a good cause, Artisan Alley offers visitors a little bit of everything within this stretch of an alley. So if you’re looking for things to do in DeLand, keep reading for a list of things to do in Artisan Alley.

Artisan Alley Deland Restaurants

If you’re looking for a restaurant to try out, you may want to check out some of the ones in the Artisan Alley. There are two choices in this alley with some more options across the street.

Parvathys Indian Cuisine

While I have yet to try this restaurant, the reviews have been quite positive! Parvathys started as a food truck at the local Artisan Alley Farmers Market, but after operating for 10 years, Parvathys Indian Cuisine finally opened up a permanent location in Artisan Alley.

Bake Chop Artisan Kitchen

If you’re looking for something vegan or burgers, Bake Chop is the place to visit. All meats are pasture-raised, cage and antibiotic-free, and they use the freshest ingredients sourced from locals. The desserts are also made in-house daily. The prices aren’t too bad but do expect to get a burger for about $16-$18.  Most of the dishes are about the same price range.

Artisan Alley Bars

The bars in this area are quite eclectic with their decorations, and while it’s not a huge selection of bars, the two that are located in Artisan Alley have plenty to offer.

Persimmon Hollow Brewing Co.

If you’re looking for a spot with a good selection of beer, then this is the place to check out. Not only will you get great service and a pleasant atmosphere, but it is also dog-friendly. You can also get a tour of the brewery and learn more about how they brew.

NEST

This cute spot is part gift shop, part bar. On one side you will see home furnishings along with some random gift shop items – such as cat nip for your pets, postcards, and all sorts of unique trinkets. On the other side, you’ll find a bar with a good selection of drinks. Even if you don’t drink, this is a spot to add to your go-to list the next time you visit DeLand.

Artisan Alley Shops

There are also quite a few shops around Artisan Alley that are a must-visit. Whether you are a shopper or not, these shops offer unique gifts and some are even giving a percent of their profit to a good cause.

Desert Sage

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect when I saw Desert Sage, but once I walked in I discovered a small shop full of unique items. There were some dinnerware items such as dish mats, but they also had fine teas, soy candles, goat milk soap, and more. What I most appreciated about this place is that 15% of their proceeds go to the Footprints Foundation which helps save the lives of mothers and babies in Jamaica and Africa.

Renie’s Retreat

If you’re looking for a day spa, Renie’s Retreat is the right place to visit. This is not just a day spa, but you can also purchase a few items for your skincare routine or your home.

Salons and Studios

While exploring Artisan Alley DeLand, I came across a Salon and Studio. I almost missed out on these as I was paying more attention to the shops and restaurants, but these are just as much of a hidden gem as the rest.

Blake Elliot Salon and Gallery

Blake Elliot Salon is this gorgeous salon that has the atmosphere of a white cube gallery. Paintings do hang around the salon making the experience more enjoyable.

FSGNE Studio Metal Arts

The FSGNE Studio Metal Arts provides classes so you can learn to make your jewelry. The studio offers members access to almost everything they’ll need – rolling mills, kilns, hydraulic presses, torches, polishing wheels, and more. You don’t have to be a member to join one of the classes, but you do need to register in advance as classes fill up. It is the only studio in the Artisan Alley DeLand, which makes this such a unique find.

DeLand Artisan Alley Farmers Market

Another good thing about Artisan Alley DeLand is the farmer’s market. The farmer’s market takes place every Friday from 6 PM to 9 PM. Here you will find plants, baked goods, arts and crafts, honey, and more. It is a wonderful way to spend Friday evenings, whether you buy anything or not.

Artisan Alley DeLand is such a vibrant alley full of local shops, bars, and restaurants. This hidden gem is sure to impress anyone making a stop in DeLand.
