One of the benefits of living in Florida is being able to travel to different beaches. This is how I ended up going to St. Petersburg for 24 hours. The trip from Orlando to St. Petersburg is about 2 hours (depending on traffic). So by the time we got to St. Petersburg, it was still bright and sunny. Once we got to the hotel, my husband and I decided to go to The Toasted Monkey for some lunch.
The Toasted Monkey is a fun Beach bar and Sports grill offering everything from sports on tv to live music. The best part about this place is their amazing outdoor view. This was a perfect place for my husband and I because of the tropical setting, the friendly staff and the delicious food.
Afterwards, we ended up going to the beach and decided to go to a few gift shops. Since I didn’t want to drive my car everywhere, we decided to walk around. If walking is not something you want to do in 92 degrees Fahrenheit, there is a service that offers free beach rides. The company, Free Beach Ride, offers rides everyday from 8am-3am and you are able to reserve your ride using an app, online or calling them. This service is also available in Clearwater.
After going to the beach and a few too many gift shops, we decided to end our night at a bar. St. Petersburg is known for their many bars, so deciding on one was a bit difficult since there were so many great bars available to us. Eventually we ended up going to PCI Beach Bar, which I believe was the best choice. The bar is completely decorated with license plates from around the world and it is open to the beach. So while we sat at the bar drinking, we were able to look out and admire the beach.
St.Petersburg was extremely fun and although I was only there for 24 hours, I was able to do a lot. From gift shops to drinking, St.Petersburg met my needs for a fun weekend.
If given the chance, would you go to St. Petersburg for 24 hours?
